How a fleet operator cut mooring rope costs by 9x and secured SOLAS 2024 compliance
A leading fleet operator trading in Europe, Japan, South-east Asia, Singapore and the Middle East replaced Excel-based mooring records with DigiMoor X7. The result: automated compliance, longer rope life and best-suited ropes at a fraction of the previous cost.

Regulatory overload, manual records and leaking budgets
Before working with Synergetic, the client's ship managers, HSEQ managers and technical superintendents faced three problems at once.
Regulatory overload
SOLAS amendments from 1 January 2024 demanded design, maintenance and inspection rules verified by Class. SIRE 2.0 set KPIs for MEG4 compliance, DryBMS had to be met, and vessels needed the RightShip Mooring Safety badge. Technical checks such as SDMBL and fitting SWL were left to crews with limited specialist support.
Operational drag
Line management, fitting usage and lifecycle records lived in bulky Excel sheets. Superintendents could not see real-time status or decide service life and maintenance frequency on data.
Financial leakage
Procurement was decentralised, with no comparison of service life, quality, cost and availability across makers and rope types, so the fleet paid more than it needed to.
A gap analysis first, then DigiMoor X7 across the fleet
1. Gap analysis
Synergetic assessed fittings against Ship Design MBL, lines, compliance and procedures, and delivered a mitigation report including the SDMBL calculation and a mooring systems design review.
2. Digital MSMP & LMP
DigiMoor X7 replaced the spreadsheets with ship-specific digital Mooring System and Line Management Plans.
3. Automated compliance
Real-time, fleet-wide compliance covering MEG4, SIRE 2.0, TMSA 3 Stage 4, RightShip, SOLAS and DryBMS.
4. Seafarer-friendly use
A simple interface with an offline mode for vessels, so the crew records data where the work happens.
Measurable savings and verified safety
9x lower rope cost
The maker and line type cost comparison engine identified the best-suited ropes at nine times less cost, through data-supported purchasing.
Longer rope service life
Rope-life analysis and wear-zone management at ship and maker level mean lines are retired on data, not estimates.
Mooring Safety badge
Vessels using the system were distinguished with the Mooring Safety badge on the RightShip platform, showing the owner's commitment to Zero Harm.
Audit readiness
Automated MSMP, LMP and compliance checks streamlined preparation for SIRE 2.0 inspections and TMSA 3 Stage 4.
Fewer incidents
Mooring incident risk alerts gave the fleet early warning of lines and practices that needed attention.
Advance procurement
Timely procurement planning and accurate ship-specific ordering replaced last-minute, vessel-by-vessel buying.
"The software automated our complete mooring systems management, improving our operational efficiencies. This is a real innovation in mooring. Glad we associated with the DigiMoor team."
